Nope. The microLED rumour was always about Ultra getting it first. So it was definitely not planned for the S10.

The change of the glass/metal bezel ratio with the S10 was a deliberate design decision, maybe forced by the new thinness. Doesn‘t mean you have to like it, though.
Just seems like a strange choice to me. Hopefully I don’t mind it. Mines out for delivery so I’ll know here soon.

It’s not their opinion. It something they they read online and then repeated as if was their own opinion. That’s how social media works - an echo chamber of “the thing we all hate today”. But just wait a few weeks and it will be something else, like tinted icons.
lol what a ridiculous comment. If it doesn’t bother you, good for you, but for all the people it does bother - it’s real. We’re not bots. It’s an objective fact that the black glass bezels are larger on the series 10.

And it DOES matter. Apple spent years talking about slimming bezels on the Watch and IPhone, including this year on the iPhone. To pretend it doesnt is to gaslight yourself.

the series 10 IMO is a design regression overall. there’s a reason Apple compared it to the series 4/5/6 instead of 7/8/9.

Again, if you like it, great!

feels way nicer than my S8, that was the midnight color, jet black looks way classier, it feels thinner, I'm a big 6' 2" guy, this size better matches my body, nice upgrade overall,

the 1sec AOD refresh is amazing for seeing seconds too

maybe the original poster should return it or start meditating to find inner peace. lol

Just received my 10 Jet Black 42mm. Am replacing my S9 and am thrilled. Bezels don’t show with the face I use. Seems so much lighter and even though I have very small wrists, the 42 looks bigger but good. 👍

Can you explain what that means? I haven't seen an AW10 as of yet. Thanks
Always on display used to refresh every minute, now it's every second!

this is when you have not touched or moved your wrist to fully light it up

Coming from a S5, the bezels are smaller to me, but it is a shame they couldn’t keep them as trim as the last iteration.

Oh well, something to look forward to with Series 13 I suppose!

Without ideal lighting, it’s kind of difficult to fully judge the bezels, especially with a black casing.

(S7 space black titanium 45mm on the left, S10 slate titanium 46mm on the right)
The character sizes look exactly the same on both watches. How is the increased screen size on the S10 a good thing?

I love the watch, bezels included! Mine is jet black and I’m not bothered by the bezels. It’s my first Apple Watch though, so I have no comparison. And I still have an iPhone 11, so maybe i am used to big bezels 😅

Picked up my Slate Ti a little while ago. More glass, less case than S9, but nothing really noticeable to me with this color.

Overall, I think I slightly prefer the look from before, but it's not a big deal. I kind of wonder if they changed the overall "bezel" ratio (glass plus metal) so they can shrink the glass part back down to where it was before. I'd take a smidge larger screen in the exact same body size, but as someone with tiny wrists the 42mm fits perfectly and I don't want it any bigger.

Total bezel is unchanged. Glass bezel bigger, metal bezel smaller.

Do people have eyes? Don't they see that this comparison is absurd since the Series 10 is not 1 mm larger in the image? Don't people know/understand that the Series 10 screen has grown wider and that is not appreciated in these types of comparisons?

If someone has a Series 7-8-9 and a 10 in front of them and doesn't notice a difference in screen size... maybe one day Apple will release a health test for them...

I clearly prefer the design of the Series 10 over the Series 7-8-9. The screen feels much more prominent and the watch feels more slick with that slim design and less total bezel (metal+glass). And yes, when the Series 13 enlarges the screen another 3% at the cost of reducing the black frame... I will like it even more.

When the Series 7 came out people laughed at it being a redesign because they were expecting it to have straight edges (why did they want that? I don't know). Now the same thing is happening...

Now there are people who wanted straight edges again, or for the watch to be circular or for it to have a ****ing mechanical bezel… The enemy is ourselves…

this does not look right, the 10 has a larger screen, this is not representative of reality right?

Dude … that comparison was obviously scaled for the sizes to match, to make the comparison easier.

Fact is we got more glass bezel, less metal bezel = same total bezel. And some people like the new look, and some don't. End of story.

I got used to using black watch faces on my series six which makes the bezels disappear. Now with the jet black there is not even the silver bezel anymore.

What I think is that for the small watch is that it’s to big now, also with the black it feels more massive and I feel like it looks less elegant in the new square from factor compared to the old one that was more rectangular. It looks more like a toy now, maybe I should try different watchfaces. Hm.

It’s a complete non-issue, just like the weight and thinness differences. So minuscule as to not be worth bothering mentioning.

Series 10 46 mm Silver - Series 7 45 mm Starlight

This is for those who comment that they do not notice a difference in the size of the watches.

And with the screen on the difference is similar, with the added benefit that the screen stands out more due to there being less black bezel+alluminum frame.

The watch definitely feels bigger, wider and slimmer.

The Series 10 46 mm screen is 2 mm wider (33vs31 mm) than the Series 7-8-9, but is marginally higher (both around 38 mm).

Just got my s10. It is an absolute shame to deliver a watch with these thick bezels. s9 had way slimmer bezels. What on earth is apple thinking with these updates? One step forward and two backwards?? for 899€ i have only one question: WHY.

Most of the AW hardware team was on leave fur the last 6 years or so.

Original Apple Watch had the rectangular size and ratio perfect and elegant. They ruined it a bit by making it wider all for the sake of increasing the size.

Green 7 to Black 10. Not much difference. Size of letters / numbers / images is the SAME.

The green lake sports band feels thinner and more flexible, sits on hole 3 instead of green 7 hole 2.

I'm happy. The 10 mirrored my 7 so I did not even have to fiddle with settings.
