Just went walking with the S3 only, no iPhone.

Results:
1. Played music from onboard playlist to my AirPods - No issues (love the music controls in the workout app)
2. Recieved a couple of text messages, news updates and email
3. Got home and workout was shown in my workout app along with the usual map, heart and pace information
4. Battery level started at 100% and ended at 50% (2 hours of walking)

I couldn't make a call or receive one. Not sure if that should work or it's data only. And if its data only should I be able to make a Facetime call? (I'm on T-Mobile. Initial setup worked without issues)

Aside from the call issue, the S3 worked great and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for posting your results! You should be able to make regular phone calls. Some folks are having trouble on T-Mobile right now with voice calls. I would imagine this will be resolved in the days to come.

Damn, down 50%!!

That is two hours of exercise though, which seems not too far off from what I see on my series 2 (I lose about 20% battery life for each hour of exercise on the watch) If he had just walked without recording it as a workout, it would have used up much less battery. Iirc, Apple says you'll get about 4 hours of workouts on one Watch charge (series 3), so it sounds right in line.

GPS is a battery hog and so is LTE. I was at the gym for an hour doing the same stuff minus the gps and I drained 10 percent in 1 hour.

Sounds like a great device. The watch itself should have battery for around five hours of running according to Apple (one of their aims was a marathon which can be different times)

I just ran for 4hrs and my batter is 50% on series 2 (no music).

Did you bring your iphone as well? I'm wondering if the solid battery life is due to no music playing alone, or if it was also using the iPhone's GPS?

Walked again this morning with roughly the same results. From 100% down to 54%. It's an absolute joy not having my phone bang around in my pockets.

For the rest of the day, the drain was about equal to my S2.
