I bought a S3 a couple of years ago and I was really disappointed with the time it took to sync music off my iPhone. I remember it being astonishingly slow like this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8252423 and even after trying to sync with and without Bluetooth, I ended up returning it. I don't use Apple Music because I prefer to own my music, not rent it. I want an Apple Watch so I can listen to music without having to handle my phone (gym, public transport, etc.). So, I'm looking into the S6 but the sync speed is important to me given my needs. Does anyone know if syncing is faster with the S5/6? About how large is your playlist and how long does it take to sync?

Yes, it’s many times faster because it uses Bluetooth 5.0. The Series 3 is using Bluetooth 4.2 which is significantly slower.

however it’s still not speedy. You still measure transfer times in terms of minutes. What used to take 45 minutes now is maybe 5 minutes.

It's also even faster because you can disable bluetooth and use WiFi 5GHz speeds to transfer songs. Elsewhere on this forum this was mentioned and I tried it and can confirm it works much faster than using Bluetooth 5.0, which is still slow on the AW6 for transferring a bunch of songs on a playlist.

When I was troubleshooting my issues with the S3, I tried syncing with Bluetooth on and off and there was no difference. I think it was taking me roughly 2 mins per song. How long does it take per song for you and what AW do you have?

I can confirm that the "life hack" Waw74 suggested here -

works great on my AW6 and iPhone X

did you turn in off in control center, or the settings app

If you use the control center, it doesn't turn anything off, your watch will still be connected via bluetooth

Settings, of course. On a related note, I have no idea what Apple was thinking by placing a temporary Bluetooth toggle in Control Center.

My S6 will sync music over WiFi without having to disable Bluetooth, takes 2 min to sync 70 songs
