Was lucky enough to walk into a store on Friday and pick up an Apple Watch Series 4 (aluminium Gold) to replace my Series 2 (also aluminium gold). Unfortunately this particular colour only comes with pink bands which is disappointing (because gold is only for girls right Apple?), so I have used my existing cocoa band from my series 2 and ordered an indigo sports loop.

First impressions were a bit of a shock, the colour of the series 4 is very different to the series 2 and I was a little disappointed. The series 4 is more of a pinky / copper type gold depending on the light. Basically as a guy I deffinately need a darker band to offset it, more-so than the series 2. Saying that I do like it as I find the black and silver aluminium models to look very plain.

As you can see, the 42mm bands fit PERFECTLY:

The watch is very impressive and a huge leap in performance over my series 2. Even little things like the screen being more responsive, so when I tap it it responds more quickly and confidently than the series 2. I love the infograph watch face but I have not been able to have the heart rate complication show my most recent reading right there on the face. After having a play about with it, I don't think its possible.

Even though the S4 is nearest to the camera it still barely looks any bigger:

With the new ceramic back SS owners are paying quite a premium for a thin frame around the watch:

Reading notification/messages/emails etc is much more pleasurable on the bigger screen, its surprising how much of a difference it makes between 42mm and 44mm. The watch itself doesn't really LOOK much bigger and fits nicely even though I have relatively average sized wrists.

Overall it was a solid purchase which I will probably keep until the series 6/7 comes along. Hope you like the pics and they help with your decision.

[doublepost=1537703848][/doublepost]Great pics.......thanks for posting.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the true colour of the gold. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, though it is a beautiful shade. I can’t afford the SS (and I believe that isn’t true gold either), plus I don’t want grey or silver so this is still the best option.

Photos do seem to strip any pink tones - I did share one on the forum that I’d adjusted with photoshop, but apparently it still didn’t show it enough.

I’m currently pairing it with a knock-off lavender sport band which goes well. Works quite nicely with the Tahoe blue sport loop too. Not so fond of it with the pink sand loop it came with though.

There’s an app called HealthView that has a complication for heart rate & you can set it up where you’ll be able to see most recent on the screen. I haven’t gotten the series 4 yet but on the 3 it works fine- hope it works out for you!

Those photos make the gold look great! I originally bought the gold since I also was coming from a gold S2. Though I couldn’t get past the Rose Gold real life look and exchanged for space gray. Looks great with the cocoa band. Thanks for sharing Picts!
