Oh definitely, they do look the same. For me the big thing is the sapphire screen. But I also find the highly polished case much more attractive.
Then why wouldn't you get the titanium? It's polished and has sapphire screen.

I would. But there are no “older” polished titanium watches yet. My statement was made in the context of new aluminum vs an older model Also, I suspect titanium would scratch less easily.
Although titanium do scratch less easily once it does get scratched it’ll be more difficult to remove. Titanium will bent more easily though although for most this won’t be an issue. Can’t do titanium. Not a as material that is appealing for me on a watch.

Ceramic or stainless steel are the best ways to go.

I have also been a long time S4 SS user. Few months ago, I compared my S4 SS to S9 SS and recently did the same but compared it to S10 Titanium. I didn't like that now Apple forces one to pay for Hermes edition to have Silver look vs the standard S10 Titanium models which have different shade/colors.
At the end, I found a great deal on S8 SS (new in a box) and also sold my S4 SS. Factoring that it would cost me $100+ to get a new battery service in my S4 in coming months, I essentially upgraded to S8 for about $100 - could not be happier with the outcome.
In my opinion, S9 / S10 feels like a total disappointment and waste of money if one needs to spend $800 when going from S4 SS.

I've never found it to cause a problem with battery life, though I tend to always have a backup watch available when I need to charge anyway. I tend to record at least one GPS/LTE workout a day – often two – so battery drain from AOD is the least of my worries.

Same, hasn’t been an issue.

I have an automation to turn it on and off, but there’s no significant change in battery consumption.
