For some reason the rounded corners on S4 display, does not appeal too me. I think the square corners allow more info.

Am I the only one here not a fan of rounded corners? Also when it came to normal watches, never liked round faces in general.

I Would rather say, that I am not a fan of the margins Apples design guide introduce when designing for rounded corners, which are the reason why less info is shown.

Compared to like a Fitbit that might use a square edged watch face versus the rounded corners on the Apple Watch, I definitely prefer the rounded corners, I think it’s more of a complete look for the Apple Watch. To me, I think squared edges looks looks more generic or unrefined.

I do not even like the case on the Series 4 having more rounded corners compared to Series 0 to 3. But when I purchased none smart watches, I did not like traditional round watch face. See pic of last regular watch.

Yes, everyone has idea of what looks better to them. For example some , the analog watches such Cartier Tank Louis Cartier, Cartier Tank Americaine, Cartier Tank Solo were also analog watches I liked. I do like the Hermes faces best. The Nixon Rotolog I liked because it was a mechanical digital type style that was different than most. So for some square edged styles is not clunky, or unrefined.

I have a few mechanical watches that are designed similar to the Cartier ‘square look’. For a traditional watch, that’s something I do prefer, because it does have an elegance factor to it, and it’s not your ‘every day round’ watch that we see in public either.

Okay, I’ve been thinking mostly of the screen — which does look unrefined if it has square edges

As for the case it’s of less of importance to me, though I still do prefer the S4’s look

I agree with the OP. I think the S0 - S3 is much better looking. The S4 looks pudgy to me. The S4 should wear an S3 to monitor its exercise and fitness to lose weight. ;)

I quite like the S4 and I think the larger screen allows for more information even if the corners are rounded.

Fortunately for you, Apple still sells the S3 and it’s less expensive. I’d say that’s a win.

Agree I have both 38mm S2 and 40mm S4 and when I put the old one on it just looks and feels nicer. Can't put my finger on why exactly. The watch faces also look nicer without the slightly rotated complications.
