I watched couple of reviews on youtube and they said, Series 8 has a better sleep tracker? Is this true?

I am currently on S5 and was going to upgrade to S7 but if S8 has a better sleep tracker, then I might not go with S7. I am a male so I thought S8 doesn't have a lot to offer and I am getting S7 at a huge discount. Can anyone clarify if S8 does indeed have a better sleep tracker?

Believe more detailed sleep tracking in the new OS9, supporting multiple models, 8 and lower.

Track your nightly wrist temperature changes with Apple Watch

Apple Watch Series 8 or Apple Watch Ultra can gather wrist temperature data while you sleep to help give you insight into your overall well-being.

That’s very obscure wordings.

The only parts of the watch that actively track whether you’re asleep or awake is the activity and heart rate sensor.

The Series 6 added a blood oxygen sensor and the Series 8 added a temperature sensor but neither of these are used determine whether you’re asleep. They do however provide a data point in the Health app which you can compare to sleep stages and view trends. This is what Apple means by “insight into your overall well-being”

* Note while the blood oxygen sensor can take on-demand readings, the temperature sensor will only function while you’re asleep.

Any Series 4 or newer got Watch OS9 which adds sleep stages into the sleep tracking.

I don’t think there’s currently any benefit to the 8 over the 7 for sleep tracking. Any suggestion about the temperature being used for sleep is just a guess at this point. Apple has only said it’s for female cycle tracking.
