I know vague Apple specs say both last 18 hours but the S6 has All On Display while ether SE doesn't.

I am not very interested in the additional sensors and neutral on the AoD; I would trade off this functionality for longer battery life.

So how do both watches compare if the S6 has AoD switched off? Shall I expect more, or actually the S6 has worse battery life than the SE if AoD is left on and specification are misleading?

Always on display will categorically reduce battery life by some percentage but that really depends on your usage.

So if you turn it off then you’d potentially get more out of it. The other sensors, if you’re not using them, will not really drain battery by much as such.

Thanks,

it would be interesting to see a comparison as such to clarify whether actually on like for like basis the S6 has or not better battery life than the SE.

Is there any guidance how much the battery can be extended is AoD is switched off?

Not that I've seen, and it's improbable that there will be any such guidance IMHO.

I'd suggest anyone considering an Apple Watch should plan to charge it every day.

If you're going to be away from home for the weekend, pack a short charging cord and a USB powerbank if you'll be away from power. Or buy one of the various third-party combo powerbank/watch-charger-puck devices. https://mashtips.com/portable-power-banks-apple-watch-iphone/
