Hi guys,

In my settings, safari opens a new session with the homepage. Whenever I open a new tab, it opens with the homepage.

But how on earth do I assign the homepage to the homepage button?!

(I might have translated the names wrong since my OS in in Dutch.)

The homepage entry under General is where the URL of the web page goes. When you click on the homepage icon in the menu bar, it will go to that page. I use a blank page as I son't want pages to load automatically.

so about:blank will be a blank page.
What’s the code for the homepage?

You know, the new one. With bookmarks and most visited and stuff

That's the Start Page. It can't be set as your Home Page, but you can chose to open New Windows with it. Just click on the "New windows open with..." in Preferences>General, and choose Start Page.

I have that.

Its weird that you can’t set the start page as your homepage

For quick access in the toolbar, right click a blank area of it to access Customize Toolbar, then drag the Start Page icon to it.

Ahhh. Didn’t know that was an option. Thank you.

by the way... why can I still bookmark websites as Topsites?!

You're welcome.

I assume you meant "why can't I still bookmark websites as Topsites?!" That feature has been removed. To varying degrees of satisfaction, people are using current features to simulate Top Sites; a couple of random threads below to start your search.

From ASC, instruction and an image of using a folder in Favorites to serve as a Top Sites container:

No, I really meant “can”.

I tried to bookmark something yesterday and the Topsites option was there. Which I found weird since they removed that

That is weird. Don't know why that would be. Different OS version, corruption? If I find anything I'll reply back.

(I didn't use the Top Sites feature. The plist file for it still exists at---- ~/Library/Safari/TopSites.plist.)

This just came to mind. Don't know that it's relevant. The recent security update combined with the Safari one for macOS Mojave caused multiple problems. Apple has since released (via Software Update not at website last I checked) new versions of both. Everything appears to be fixed now. I don't know if other OS versions were affected.
