When I move a Safari 16 tab to a new window and have any pinned tabs alongside, it does not remain on the selected tab in the new window but shifts to a pinned tab adjacent.

I'm on an M1 iMac with Monterey 12.6.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

same, wondering if they're still doing any QA at apple. Found many gross bugs including that one very upsetting.

Now this issue has been confirmed, let's hope the venerable upper echelon of MacRumors will have some sway with Apple QA.

I can no longer move tabs from one Safari window into another, something I was using very frequently until the update to Safari 16.0.

I also noticed that sometimes I cannot move a tab out of a Safari window to create a new window. At first, this only happens when I move the tab onto another (physical) screen, but it#s not 100% reproducible.

P.S.: I've reported this via https://www.apple.com/feedback/macos.html

Dragging tabs out to a new window also fails, resulting in the tab just disappearing. Awesome.

I've been a vocal fan of Safari for years now, but this month I had to (at least temporarily) break down and change my default browser. Sure hope they get all these bugs worked out (In addition to this irritation, I've also been plagued by Web sites that just result in blank pages or "The server closed the connection" messages (The same sites are loading fine without error in Chrome, Safari and Edge). Sigh.

I’m having the same issues here occasionally. Also in iOS 16. I thought they might have changed some security stuff inside Safari that causes this, but it may well be due to bugs instead.

I am experiencing the same issue. I used apple.com/feedback to report it
Thank you for starting this thread! It's good to know I'm not crazy.

Can confirm this behavior. Sometimes, if you have two Safari windows, then drag a tab out of one (to make a third), and it disappears, it will magically re-appear in the second window, if you click add a blank tab.

It's hard to describe. But desktop Safari 16.0 is buggy as hell.

Yes it happens to me. To explain my bug(I don't know if it's an intended feature or bug), but consider I have 1 window of safari and 10 tabs in it. Then I open a new tab, open netflix in it and pull it out to make a new window. Now, a proxy or duplicate of netflix is opening in the main window(along with my other 10 tabs in it) and this netflix in my second window is somehow being synchronized with the one opened in the first window(like in the image I attached). So when I close the one in second window, it's proxy is also getting closed or vice versa, if I close the proxy, the tab in second window is also being closed! It's annoying!!! I didn't find any option to not have this feature, so I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but seriously it's annoying!!!

That is the exact behavior I get too. I hope this gets fixed because it's annoying as hell.

Good news my friends. The problem seems to be fixed with the new Safari 16.1 in Ventura.

I still have same issue while i am on 16.1, this issue has been happening since i got the M1 mac, it think it did not happened with my 2015 MBP while i connect 2 monitors and mbp is in clamshell mode.

hope this gets fixed soon, very annoying !

ps i have upgraded OS to v13 Ventura

I don’t know why, but I haven’t experienced the problem for a while now. Which makes it even more puzzling. Still on Monterey.
