Recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite and I have 2 questions.

    1. With Yosemite/Safari 9.0 when I go to Clear History I am told "Clearing History will remove related cookies and other web site data". All I want to do is clear history as in previous versions of Safari, I do NOT want to remove any cookies when I clear history. Is there a fix for this bug?

    2. Can I just go back to Mavericks?

Why would you want to clear the history without removing the cookies?

You can manually delete the history and cookies separately

The option of clearing History only is gone, but here is another way to accomplish what you want - Safari Menubar > History > Show History (or command+y) > click somewhere in the History page > then press command+a > then press delete.
    Yes.

"Why would you want to clear the history without removing the cookies?"

Wow, you sound like someone who works for Apple. Your response is like saying, if there was a better way to do it, we would have done it that way.

Why do I want to keep cookies? Because when cookies get deleted I have to re-enter data on subsequent visits to certain web sites. Since this is my home computer, not public, I would like to keep some of the cookies. I much prefer to manage cookies separately. I also have a Safari extension for managing cookies.

Why does Apple keep solving problems that do not exist? That is why I wish I could go back to Mavericks.

Well that went over your head. If it's a personal computer and you want some cookies, then why would you want to delete the history only. The cookie is a clear sign you have been there, and still have the vital information. What difference does having it listed in your history make? - unless you are trying to hide something you shouldn't be doing ;)
