Is the next OS update the one where they are re-evaluating everything? Because clearly two main apps everyone uses have devolved into utter garbage.

Not even sure why I bother anymore and might just switch to Chrome and web gmail.

I run multiple email accounts with 10's of thousands of email on each inbox. Mail now chokes on everything, even on my M1 Max MBP 32GB.

Basic searches take forever, spinning beachballs everywhere.

Safari even worse. Have two main windows with a few dozen tabs each. Stuck on 100% CPU on two cores most of the time and eating up 30+ gigs of RAM. Everything slow.

I have to restart and reboot every few days now to keep myself sane. It's like their engineers dont even care to optimize anymore. How is Chrome sitting at 1.6 gigs ram and safari at 36???

My 2015 MPB lasted until 2022, now I feel like I have to upgrade every two years...

After nearly 30 years of using Macs its quite sad to see how far the Apple has fallen from the tree....

Safari is pretty solid and the only browser that works on ProMotion displays without the judder that happens in Chromium browsers when scrolling.

Mail is horrible though and so is the terrible notification sync between Apple devices. Gmail is superior.

Safari is by far my browser of choice. Firefox is next if I use an alternate browser. Cannot stand chrome, I use gmail for my email provider.... until I find a better free email service, and use apple mail client. I try not to use anything google, or Microsoft.

I use Mail with 12+ Imap and one Exchange Account with some 135.000 E-Mails on the MBA M2 as well as on the Hackintosh with I5-10400, have instant results when searching, works better then in any Mail App (also Outlook) and no Beachballs. I would suggest there is something not right on your Mac.

Wait, are you disliking your Mac ? Maybe this is just revenge

No argument here

I long ago stopped using Mail and in the last year finally switched to Firefox everywhere I could

(iOS is still a hangup of course ... lucky EU users...I'm jealous0

Might want to try eM Client with all that volume of mail; it uses a database to store email and not one mbox file per folder. Works well with GMail, too.

Might want to try eM Client

I tried it recently and I think it's a nice email client which many people may like.

However, I think that those who want to try it may want to know in advance that eM Client lacks a tabbed interface. You're limited to using the same window or opening a new one—no tabs are available. A bit strange for a modern app. To me it was a deal breaker. I'm sure some users might not find this to be an issue.

You want gargabe? Try the BS that Microsoft is pushing on Windows users. The mail app became Outlook the webapp and it's horrid, with ads inline with the inbox! Compared to that, Mail.app is just about amazing.

But I use Edge (yes, from MS) on my mac instead of Safari, and I'm happy with it. Once you disable a lot of the annoyances, it's a really lightweight browser and it has a lot of very nice features.
