ive tryed to run it in safe mode using that link u gave me mkrishnan and it locked up in exactly the same manner on that page too:confused: what is going on??

Your page loads in Safari for me. Ahem, do you really need multiple videoss and songs playing at the same time, though? :p

I did notice that in your About Me section, there is malformed code -- you can see part of a tag hanging out at the end of the text, which means that there's a missing bracket or quotation or something like that.

But I'm not sure that this is why it won't display for you, since it displays for me....

I cant even mend that code can i though because i cant get into my home page before the browser locks up! looks like ill have to use the Dell to do it then *crys*

Can anyone think of a way to solve this i.e. reinstalling somethin or any plugins that could be installed or something? bearing in mind it happens on IE Firefox and Safari so could it be a problem with my mac? *shudders*

A couple more questions...

1) how long have you waited to make sure it was a lockup and not just a long load? Your page took a fair amount of time to load for me....

2) There aren't a lot of freaky-deakytized ads on MySpace, but the other thing I would suggest is installing AdBlock in FF or PithHelmet or the like in Safari at least temporarily and see if flash ads are locking up your browser.

I waited 20 minutes one time and i knw it was a lockup because right clicking on the safari icon shows icon not responding..whereas if it was jst loading it would say new window and whatever the window title was that was open. and force quit wouldnt say not responding either.

where could i get those blockers then? and i still dont understand why all 3 of my browsers are locking up which suggests to me that its not a browser problem

Start with just one of them.... You can get adblock from:

http://adblock.mozdev.org

More specifically, you can follow this link (but only in FF):

http://adblock.ethereal.net/Adblock_v.5/adblock-05-dev.xpi

You may have to permit FF to get an extension from that site. But AdBlock is a well-known and safe extension....

I'm not sure why your browsers are locking up. My guess is some funny flash content. But I'm not 100% sure of that. I use an ad-blocking css file... so I don't see those. That's why I thought that might be it.

camino handles myspace much much better than safari

I've tried all the major Mac browsers to use MySpace and have eventually returned to Safari. Camino gets choked up with style-heavy MySpace profiles.

well that solution had 0% success  i guess ill just give up and use the PC oh wel. ill wait till i get my macbook pro for university and it should work then:p

Well more power to you, but at this rate, there are only a few possible explanations of what you're seeing -- it has to be systemic.

1) Flash issues -- that's why I suggested re-installing Flash ages ago, and also Adblock. I'm still not convinced this isn't the issue

2) Some aspect of router config / internet connection in your system is responding poorly to the tremendous bandwidth sucking sound your MySpace page generates... ;)

If it really is #2, then even if you get a Windows box and put it on your network, it might not work....

I didn't realize 21st Century Kid was posting about the exact same problem I posted about in another thread. (Thanks for the link, mkrishnan.)

The problem isn't caused by heavy content on any particular profile. It happens on every profile and every myspace page -- most commonly for me, it happens before I can even enter my login name.

It's also not just slow -- it completely stops responding. Last night I went to sleep when it was trying to load, woke up six hours later and it hadn't made any progress at all.

I've also installed the latest flash player, emptied my caches and reset Safari. This is baffling and very frustrating.

21st Century Kid: what version of the system software are you running? (I'm on 10.2.8)

The use IIS for one. IIS loves to crap out under load, why MySpace always has problems.

Microsoft never have such problems ad their requests are a lot bigger. Oh. they do use Sun computers with Solaris and Linux.

Yes, MySpace uses some of the worst products. They've split up the services but their servers seem to stall a lot. I suppose having several million members has something to do with that.

Tom sent out a bulletin looking for developers.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • 3+ years of solid C Sharp experience
  • 3+ years of ASP.NET (and the .NET 1.1 Framework) experience
  • 4+ years of experience developing with SQL Server 2000 (including stored procedures)
  • Strong knowledge of several protocols (including HTTP, TCP/IP, and UDP)
  • a solid foundation in n-tier, Business Objects, Design Patterns, and general OOP
  • Strong knowledge (and wisdom) of IIS6 and its internals
  • Experience on sites under heavy loads that require meticulous attention to coding practices as they relate to performance and scalability
