For example: if I have 3 tabs open, and decide to go back to tab 1 from tab 3, tab 1 will reload the entire web page. If I switch to tab 2 from tab 1, that page will reload to. Basically, every time when I switch tabs, page will reload itself. While that only happens on my iPad 1, iPad 3 will not have this problem. Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Just tested for this on my iPad 1 and I do not have the reload behavior that you describe. I routinely keep the same 4 tabs always open and then add more as I need them, closing the newly added tabs when finished & maintaining the original 4 tabs when leaving Safari. After opening Safari the next time, those 4 tabs will reload on launch and then the content remains stable, no matter what else I do.

Sorry I couldn't give you a solution. (iPad 1 iOS 5.1, no JB)

i believe it has to do with system memory (RAM), if you do too much (either in safari or other apps) and the memory is needed elsewhere, the page is cleared from memory, and only a snapshot of it remains, meaning it has to reload when you go back to it.

the newest generation of iPad has 4 times the memory of the first generation (256MB vs 1GB)

It happens when I have more than 4 tabs with different pages. It is basically page reloading itselfs when you switching betweenage. It happens if I leave the tab more than 2 or more minutes and switch abck to that tab. For example: reading manga on tab 1 and news in tab 2, some random forum. After reading the new, going back to tab 1 continuing manga, this page will reload itself.

Yea I think so. Guess I have to use my iPad 3 when I do multi-tab browsering. That leaves my iPad 1 complete useless. Still want figure out ways to stop this behavior. Really wish someday we can do memory upgrade on our tablet. iPad 1 is complete useful tablet, but lack of RAM really hurt the performance.

You can use third party browsers like Atomic Browser, which have the option not to re-load tabs.

Generally I tell people to not bother force-quitting apps (by double clicking home and then holding down on each app).

In most cases it's not really worth your time. But this is one of the few times it may be helpful. Before browsing, try quitting the last 10 apps or so, and see if that makes a difference.

I really don't see how reloading tabs in Safari makes your iPad useless.
