Hi, recently safari has been crashing on my mac every couple of days, and it mostly crashes 30 minutes in of watching a youtube vid but sometimes it crashes when i do homework assignments online. Does this happen to anyone else?

is this safe for mac?

I realize you don't know me but, I am not going to spend my time on here posting things that will hurt someone's system.

I like the forum and enjoy trying to help others, as well as learning something new every day. And along the way, I hope to make some friends.

The programs I suggested are ones that I (and many others here) run.

Sorry! i didn't mean to be rude, its just that i get so many popups on chrome to go on mac anti-virus apps, i just think they are plain viruses. I will use the websites you have recommended.

----------

Install AdwareMedic to check for adware.

http://www.adwaremedic.com

If that comes up clean, run EntreCheck. This will do a quick check on your system, and point out (in red) any problems that need to be addressed.

it recommended me to back up my mac so i will do that then proceed

Always a good idea to have your Mac backed up. I also recommend having a backup of your backup.

If you are using chrome for you tube videos you are doubling your trouble Flash is a CPU hog and Chrome is a poorly optimised, CPU and battery hog that stresses your system unecessarily...
