As I'm considering the ipad as a replacement for my 15" MBP for daily browsing, usual lazy sofa stuff, I was wondering whether we'd heard any rumours about how fully featured safari will be on it?

My main worry is whether it'll fully support tabs - I often read forums by opening threads in separate tabs, and as I finish reading a thread I'll close a tab. If I have to forego that on the ipad it'll seriously affect its viability for me.

I'd be generally interested in other features too, like if they supported plugins eg for a gmail/twitter client or other features

what other things would you want from the ipad browser for it to be able to decently replace your computer for general browser tasks? (not including flash, we've been there and done that one)

Yes on tabs, no on plugins.

I'd like the iPad to have a more open OS, so as to allow plugins for Safari etc.
