How can I set restrictions on the Safari browser to keep my son from going to porn sites?

I gave him an iTouch for Christmas and did not know that it came with wifi capabilities. I don't have wifi in my house, but he is able to connect by whatever wifi accounts we have in the neighborhood.

I have software on my home computer to restrict what sites he can view. How can I do the same for his iTouch?

If you think your son is going to porn sites he's going to go no matter what you do. it has nothing to do with the Touch.

You can however keep him from accessing safari at all with parental controls but that kind of ruins the entire idea of the Touch. Should have put that 250 towards a nice disk based iPod.

I was looking around on the iTouch, and I think it is under "Restrictions"? But it has a switch labeled "Explicit".

    What does this control?

I put it "on" and I put it "off" and saw no difference in Safari performance.

With a label like "explicit" it gives the impression that it filters out explicit content.... but it didn't when I tried it.

Can anyone explain what it is for?

    Thanks.

the explicit option is not internet filtering..here's what it does:
Explicit music or video content purchased from the iTunes Store will be hidden. Explicit content is marked as such by content providers (such as record labels) when sold through the iTunes Store.

What you should turn off is the next option..."safari"..this will remove the safari icon from the desktop, thereby denying internet access and setting up a passcode to keep it from being turned on without your ok.

( I hope this thread doesn't disolve into a discussion on parenting and stays on topic)

    Thanks Biikman.

    I did turn of Safari.

I was happy to see that he can still go to iTunes and YouTube without Safari.

Any internet surfing that he needs to do can be done on my home computer, where I can monitor it.
