Add me to the list to.... espn.com started the problem I even booted from the lepoard disk and repaired permissions..havnt been back to espn since...

seems to be video related... that stupid video player that autostarts on the side....arggg

i just so happened to be by an apple store tonight, so i went in and asked a Mac Genius about this whole espn.com thing. he proceeded to take out his own personal macbook pro, tried to go to espn.com, and sure enough, he got the spinning wheel of death.. he was perplexed and just said that it must have to do with espn. then we went to youtube.com, and the same spinning wheel appeared; the Mac Genius had no explanation!!! that's a first.

Well at least it wasn't just mine that did the same thing this morning on yesnetwork.com not ESPN. Beach ball and locked. Being very new to Mac, have a Imac 20/2.4, I ended up doing force quit. At least now I know about end task.

i'm having the exact same problem here- it started whenever i visited espn.com, but now both safari and firefox keep freezing up.

It's not just ESPN...

Same Firefox/Safari problem, same "started when I visited ESPN.com," but it also causes a lock-up when I visit the LA Times web page. Exceedingly annoying, but an example of the value of the internet--twenty years or so ago, I would have been staring at a wall wondering why my computer suddenly failed. One quick Google search lead me to this thread, and I see that misery really does love company. Any solutions other than the javascript disabling, which I'm not clear whether it works?

I visited espn before and it was fine, I think it will fix the problem very soon.

Woot locked me out as well

Will this eventually fix itself or will I have to avoid those sites from now on. It's happening on my iMac 2.4/20 and my MacBook

I have run into the same problem

I have owned my MacBook Pro for about 18 months now and it has given me absolutely no problems...until now. I have encountered the same problem and I do not know what is causing it...however, that is one of the reasons I went from a PC to a Mac because my old laptop gave me all kinds of problems...this really is the first time that something like this has happened since having my mac. Is there any idea if it is something that Apple will have to release a fix for by software updates or if each of us have to call Apple care personally and get it fixed that way?

LOL!!! Well at least i know it's not just me! that makes me feel a whhoooolllleee lot better.
exact same for me - espn and you tube and everyonce in a while another random page.

well espn.com is my homepage on firefox and safari. I changed my homepage on my firefox (so i can stay on the web) by frantically stopping the loading of the page before it freezes up, which worked.
My safari however, won't let me change my homepage because it freezes to quickly for me to stop the loading. so... thats screwed until this is fixed...

ahh well
happy days!
btw i'm on a new macbook pro AND a g5 quad desktop (i see a lot of ppl posting laptops so i wanted to let u know it's a desktop prob also)

Got the same problem when I went to www.jayski.com which is owned by ESPN. Same beachball in both Safari and Camino. Everything's fine untill then. Sounds like a ESPN.com issue.

Not Just ESPN

This has been happening on a number of sites (LATIMES for example), it seems to be a javascript problem related to running videos. Disabling javascript does stop the "beach ball". This started occurring in the last 12-18 hrs. I've tried deleting and reinstalling FLASH, no help.

It has something to do with client end scripting.....I'm sure mac will fix the problem. I hope soon!

Is there a slight possibility that it is...gulp! >_<...a virus?

No, this is not a virus. Don't spread FUD. This is clearly a Flash issue. If you look at your console.log, you'll see lots and lots of error messages regarding Javascript doing something "illegal" whene trying to run the flash videos.

Some people at the Apple discussions pages are saying it's working again now; anyone confirm?

Still problems

Just tried latimes.com AGAIN, no luck. I tried repairing permissions and still no luck.

Who will have to fix the flash program?

Is this something that most likely Apple will have to fix or will it be done by Firefox?
