This just started. With a new window and only one tab, I used to have a '+' on the right side of the window. But now it's gone and only reappears when I create a second tab (cmd-T or from the File menu). Anyone know how to get that + back?

It's strange that it disappeared, mine still has it when only one tab is open. How about this?: View > Show tab bar (or Command-Shift-T) is only available for windows with one tab open. Is that the problem?

If not, there are other methods to use until you can get it figured out:

Control-click or right click on the tab bar. Select New Tab in the pop-up.

Control-click or right click on the tool bar (where your URL window is) and select Customize Toolbar. Drag the New Tab symbol from the pop-up to the tool bar. You might want some more of those as well.

File menu > New Tab, or just do Command-T on the keyboard.

No, that didn't fix it. I just checked my MacBook Air and it's doing the same thing.

You must have some setting invoked that's doing this on two computers. I see the '+' whether I have one tab or more, but not if the tab bar is hidden, of course.

So, when you click the View menu, you see Hide Tab Bar rather than Show Tab Bar?

Not to give up on it already, but if you start using one of the other methods of opening a new tab, you might just get used to it and never miss the old way.

Not sure how, but it magically reappeared in Safari on my desktop. Still missing on my MBA, though.
