I have problem with my 2017 MacBook Air, i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD. Mac tends to lag while opening new tab in Safari Technology Preview. It doesn't happen always but its quite irritating. It doesn't depend if there are 10+ tabs or just one, lags just happen from time to time. Is it any possibility to fix it? I have the newest MacOs, no viruses, a lot of space on disc, no programs which run in the background.

Yes, use another browser. Not Chrome though. Try Opera or Brave. Those too are focused on privacy and stuff.
If you really want to do something with Safari, try restarting the MB in Safe Mode, or use First Aid in Disk Utility to check the drive for problems.

Thanks for answer, but isn’t there any possibility to fix safari? It’s strange that browser which should work the best on Mac doesn’t do that

Are you running the "latest" macOS Big Sur? Which macOS you had earlier and was Safari running fine on an earlier macOS version? There could be some unknown plugins or extensions installed on Safari. You need to evaluate it and if find any malicious extension then get rid of it. Also, go to Recovery Mode < macOS Utilities and repair your startup disk with Disk Utility's First aid. As I can see here, the latest Safari version is 14.1 as dated 30 April. Please, check if you have version 14 or 14.1. I suggest you upgrade it to a newer available version. Otherwise, try running Chrome. I am using Chrome and it helps run day-to-day operations smoothly.

I have the exactly same problem. Everytime I use Safari a few hours it begins to "lag" on new tab / page for two seconds. It really is noticeable because I hit cmd+t and immediately start typing in the address bar and it stops showing my pressed keys for one/two seconds and sometimes I see the beachball.

Very very annoying and unacceptable.

MacBook Pro 2018, 16GB RAM, Big Sur 11.4 (20F71)

The only fix was to quit Safari and freshly start it. Really apple?
