Still a slower browser even w/ powerful hardware behind it.
Still many sites have issues w/ Safari.
Still no sync across PC/Mac browsers (like w/ Chrome), so there's a need to maintain two sets of saved passwords.
So, switch to Android and share your data.

I'm still waiting to see an example of a website not working in Safari. You have enough time to complain, so I thought you had the time to report a bug. I apologize for any inconvenience that my comment has brought upon you. People like to complain to just complain I guess.
Good one Phil, you must be new to the forums, welcome.

I also noticed (from a photo on the Apple website) that Safari tabs have returned to the classic tab design from pre Monterey. I.e. Rectangular rather than rounded and spaced, with the active tab a lighter colour.

This happened before Monterey was even released. Safari 15.0 had the new tab design, but 15.1, which shipped with macOS Monterey 12.0.1, rolled it back.

It's a shame because I greatly preferred the new tab design. I wish they'd give the option, at least, to bring it back in Safari 16.

1) Safari is the fastest browser BY FAR. full stop.
2) VERY FEW sites have problems with Safari.
and if you use a Mac AND a PC 1) I'm sorry and 2) use a different browser.
Even if Apple wasted their time on a Safari browser, it would still stuck as the Apple Music and iCloud apps for Windows do.
There are chrome iCloud extensions made by Apple.
Bookmarks, Passwords

Was hoping Apple would allow Chrome and Firefox plugins to be installed on Safari, which would make syncing of plugins extremely useful.

Disappointed.

I suppose our development browsers will be Firefox or Chrome, since Safari still isn't multi-platform and doesn't have the necessary plugins that we need.

Safari will continue to be a second class citizen. A shame.

I think you're forgetting how the business-to-consumer relationship works. Customers pay a business money for goods and services to be delivered as promised. We owe NOTHING to Apple for free. Why should I spend my time reporting every single website to Apple, for free? If you want to do that, great. Thank you for helping. But it's wrong to imply that we should take personal accountability to report issues. If Apple wants testing done right, they should incentivize users/professional testers.
You’re just shooting your self in the foot. Apple responds really well to it’s feedback app, if you can’t be bothered to use it, stop taking time to whine about here.

Oh ok. I knew they rolled back some design changes before release but I still thought it was an option to switch between the classic and new design.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really hope they don't remove the colour in the tab bar/website tinting option. I've come to absolutely love it.

not apples fault ublock devs dont want to port their extension to Safari, there are some decent alternatives

paywall bypasses on the other hand are questionable in terms of being legal so probably not allowed in the app store
It is on Apple, since they removed APIs used by ublock. It used to be available for safari few years back, before the extension purge. Since the current API is so limited there are no good content blockers, and those who are tolerable, like Wipr/AdGuard, still have to inject their code into websites you visit to work properly, and that invalidates the entire purpose of content blocking API Apple added (extension should have no access to history and webiste content). It's a mess and it's all Apples doing. They could at least work on their content blocking a bit, but it didn't see much development since its release. The only major change was filter size extension from 50k to 150k, hardly a game changer.

There is still the “compact” tab mode which has the new design. But they rolled back to the old design in “separate” tab mode, much to my disappointment!

I love it too. But for various other reasons I need to use the “separate” tab mode, which now only allows the dull traditional design.

Apple, please give the option to enable coloured tabs in “separate” tabs mode!
