Could be great for pinned tabs though.

I reckon this is one of the main reasons they're back.

I just installed Safari TP58 and am willing to give them a go for a week or so, but I already remember why I didn't miss them in the first place. Too many of them are just ******. No transparency, logos shrunk down into a completely non-iconic and unrecognisable pixel soup. Some websites do put effort into their favicons, but for many others white squares with coloured barf inside will now disgrace the Safari tabs...

Does it support them in the favorites bar too? in Firefox i have no text in my bookmark toolbar/favorites bar, just a quite long list of favicons.

It's interesting that you point that out, as I have never really had an issue with the b/w finder icons.
I suppose just having the icons at all, even without the colour, is enough for me with finder. I spend the majority of my time selecting files in the source code editor/ide so that may be why.

Well, it bothers me to no end.
I have an old MacBook Pro, partitioned, with Snow Leopard and Sierra on it.

I tend to use Snow Leopard more, as the coloured finder and dock is more eye pleasing. Of course, the main reason is FRONT ROW :) (tweaked to the old Tiger style, which was a killer feature :)

It was before some time ago, like years ago, but it's the fastest now, I have plenty of others on my Mac and Safari is the fastest.

Nope, I just made the switch a few months ago, probably Februrary. I can have both windows open right now and Safari will be the clear loser in terms of efficiency, page loading, playback, response time.

Sadly not, seems strange but favicons are one of the main reasons I use Chrome and was hoping for the same thing. We are half way there with Safari 12 but still not on the Favourites Bar. Hope a third-party developer can add it perhaps.
