It's some kind of script (Java) and it opens the image in a new window / tab for me.

I actually get nothing when I click on the link I attached above. What do I have to do to fix this?

Check Safari Preferences > Security > Enable JavaScript to make sure it's checked. Also, make sure you're not using an ad blocker that could be suppressing it.
 
my wife and I shared the macbook and I went over to her login and tried the site with her safari and it works...so I checked our safari setting and both are the same

Then there must be something on your account that is blocking it. Ad blockers, custom add-ons to Safari, Terminal commands you may have used to tweak Safari, etc. There's something you've done on your end that's blocking it. You might try deleting the .plist file for Safari.

that didnt help or solve problem....

in the status bar I am getting the following message

"4 errors occurred in opening the page, for more info see window>activity
