I have a 2007 macbook (2.0 c2d, 250gb 2gb) running leopard that I recently did a clean install on to try and improve overall performance. This freed-up a ton of disc space and it is faster in most things. I have also started using safari again as chrome is no longer available for leopard. Safari works ok with a couple tabs open but then quickly bogs down and consumes 50-100% of a processor. I have installed click to flash and this occurs even with no flash running. I did not have this problem before the reinstall using chrome or safari but it makes the computer super hard to use and the fans run all the time.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I realize going to 4 or 8gb of ram and snow leopard would likely improve things, but I would rather just save up to buy a 13"retina pro and want this machine to work until I can afford that probably towards the end of the year.
I really only use the computer for web browsing and listening to music (itunes or pandora/spotify with airfoil) and it seems like my specs should be ok as they have been for a long time.
