Well, there's this, this, this, this, and this, so...
I'm well aware that there are issues surrounding AMP (HN comments, for example, go wild each time an AMP post goes up). I was referring to the OP's assertion that "it doesn't really benefit the publisher. It only benefits Google", which I don't believe to be true given the issue with publishers not receiving ad revenue at all from users that have adblocking enabled, or the reduction of traffic simply because users decide to ignore a site due to long load times.
 
Nice start. Would be much better if it just redirected to the normal page. I don't use Google for search for a lot of reasons, but since I still haven't found a decent replacement for Google News I still see the wretched AMP pages.

Makes it impossible to queue up multiple articles in the background, in addition to all the other things AMP messes up discussed above.
 
I'm wondering how AMP is even legal. Basically, they are hijacking whole sites and republishing them under their own flag.
