For some reason Safari is draining about a gigabyte every 2-3 minutes. Even with only one or two windows open. Not sure why the heck it's happening. I have to restart my computer to get the memory back. Any suggestions on why this is happening?
    thanks so much!

    Try cleaning Safari:

    1. Download OnyX (a free maintenance utility).

    2. Open OnyX and Click Cancel on these two Alert Panels:
    -Cancel the S.M.A.R.T. Box
    -Cancel the Startup Volume Box

    3. Enter your Password

    4. Click on the Cleaning Tab

    5. In each tab, execute the command. Check all the boxes in each tab. When its finished in that tab, it will ask you to reboot. Say NO. Go on to the next tab and repeat until all tabs are done. THEN REBOOT.

Are we talking virtual RAM or real RAM?

What version of Safari are you using? I'm having similar issues with the developer preview version 4. There are times the usage jumps to 1gb and that's after about half an hour after fresh boot. I uninstalled, reinstalled and have the same issue.

The Onyx tip would be where I would start. Have you cleared your caches lately?

Safari 4 Developer Preview gave me the same result, too. Safari 3.2 is fine, but the developer preview would eat over 400mb of RAM.
