Safari is slow even with 18MB internet

Safari is extremely slow for me. it will do ok with pages that have text, but horrible with pages that have images or any kind of media. I used to think that it was my internet connection that was slow (att dsl 3.0Mb) and then I switched to att u-verse internet (18MB) and its still the same problem. I already switched to OPEN DNS. I also tryed it with out the router using only eithernet, cleared the cache, and reinstalled safari. Camino and Opera run circles around Safari in terms of speed. I would like to have Safari as fast as the other browsers because I don't like their UI's. could any one help me or know how to resolve this? 😕

Try using Webkit. Personally I'd stick with one of the web browsers that runs circles around Safari.
