I've had this 2016 13" MBP for about 2 weeks now. Everything was fine until this morning. Out of nowhere, Safari keeps automatically downloading flashplayer.dmg randomly. It's done it 5 times already this morning.

Sometimes it's "flashplayer.dmg" and other times it has a string of numbers in the name (screenshot below).

I've never had this happen before and I'm not sure if it's just Safari being extremely pushy about me installing Flash Player or if it's malware. Any ideas?

WTH is going on?

This is malware, and it's not a legitimate Flash Player installer. Download and run Malwarebytes for Mac to check and resolve it.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes but it didn't find anything. However, I was reading through their FAQ and they stated that what I'm experiencing is likely from a specific website that has ads and one of the ads likely includes malware that keeps trying to download. They say as long as I don't install it I'm fine and to avoid that particular site for a while.

After rebooting and avoiding that site, the issue has disappeared.
