Hey guys,

When I add a new site to my Top Sites (which is also my homepage), it's there. I can see it.
Whenever I go to another site and click the button to go to my homepage, the new Top Site is right there.
No problem at all.

BUT! Whenever I close safari and start it up again, that new Top Site is gone! Nothing, nada.

Any idea what's up with that?
Running safari 12.0.3

Letting you know that it is not only you. Searching online and couldn't find anyone else with the same issue until I read your post. I have the same issue. It was only happening with one website which happened to be a login page for an account. I solved it by logging into that particular site and then pinning it to Top Sites. It then stayed after closing Safari even if I deleted my browsing history. It now takes me to the login page. Hope that helps?
I'm running Safari 12.0. on Mojave 10.14

You can try to remove TopSites.plist file.
Get to your home Library folder: hold down the Option key, then in the Finder choose Go > Library. In ~/Library search for Safari folder. Under this folder you should see TopSites.plist file. Drag it to the Desktop and re-launch Safari.
You can also try to remove Safari Preferences file. Once again hold down the Option key, then in the Finder choose Go > Library. In ~/Library search for Preferences folder. In Preferences folder you need drag to Desktop com.apple.safari.plist (this will remove all preferences for safari you have setup. If the issue the same, drag the file from the Desktop back to the Preferences folder) . Restart your Mac and test if the issues persists.

Thanks for your response.

It was just this one page for me as well.
Also a login screen to an account.

After visiting that site a couple of times Safari itself added the website to the topsites.

Problem solved I guess :D

Otherwise I would have tried your method
