Safari on both my Macs (Mojave) no longer plays BBC News videos.
Videos can be played without problems using Firefox.

Is this the same for you?
Any idea of what could be going wrong and how to rectify?

To be clear this is happening on two separate Macs.
I have tried the usual clearing Safari caches and reboots.

Further investigation reveals that the videos embedded in a news story play fine, but the standalone ones will not play.

Such as this:

What a difference a day can make.
Everything works well today so, whatever the problem was, the issue was caused by the BBC themselves.

I always find it quite strange though that Safari seems to behave differently from all other browsers.
There must be something fundamentally different about it. Any clue?

Im also having this issue, no videos show to play on bbc dot com news website.

I've noticed recently that more and more sites aren't working quite right on Safari. I have Brave installed just for this purpose (a chromium clone). I wonder if this is going to get worse.

Figured it out, it was user error.

Under Safari, Settings for this website. I had to turn off, content blockers as it was enabled. A bit weird, as it was working before when the content blocker was enabled.

How interesting. I’ll try this next time I hit a site that doesn’t work quite right. Thanks.
