Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me.

Since updated to Safari Version 26.5 (20624.2.1.19.2) on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.6 (24G711) safari saves all files as .download (I know this is supposed to be a temporary extension till the file is completely downloaded, as this should disappear when the download is completed, but the problem is safari downloads THE WHOLE file, but DOES NOT change the file to the correct extension once download is completed... so to find the correct file I must see what's inside the .download file to find the correct file and pull it out of this "container" file.) This happens to any kind / type of file. Does any of you knows what happened and how I might solve the problem? NO settings were changed on Safari on MacOS after update NOR any new software was installed.
Thanks in advance to anyone who may answer.

You don’t have to install the beta updates, you can hide them with a configuration profile, like DeferUpdates60.mobileconfig https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/experimental-no-tahoe-for-sequoia.2480020/post-34528756 You will have to remove the profile in order to install the final version of 15.7.6.

You can report bugs through the Feedback Assistant app https://support.apple.com/guide/feedback-assistant/get-started-fbab81460adb/5.1/mac/15.0

For the .download problem, you can try to give Safari full disk access and download a file, then remove the permission for full disk access.

You can also try to reset TCC permissions for Safari. From Terminal:

Code:
tccutil reset All com.apple.Safari

Thank you so much @bogdanw Tried your suggestion but now it also says the file cannot be opened because it was moved (which it was not)... anyway I sent Apple a feedback. Let's hope for the better.

Thank you @FreakinEurekan! Just sent a feedback using the feedback assistant.
