In iOS 8 you were able to download files in safari, and open them in an app of your choosing by tapping 'open in...'. However this is gone in iOS 9? I seem to be unable to download for example an Word-file and open it in MS Word. Am I missing something?

EDIT: I'm using the latest public beta on both my iPad 4 and iPhone 5, neither of which display the 'open in...' button

please provide a link to an example word document

edit, found one to test with and found the same as you. seems like a bad omission. I will report to apple, you should too.

as a workaround in the meantime, if you get the free documents 5 app, you can use its in-app browser to visit the URL and download from there (save page). from there you can open in other apps if desired.

I saw, thanks for the tip about the Documents app! And I just reported the issue to Apple.
I hope they solve this quickly, because often I only bring my iPad to uni, and being able to download the necessary files is pretty essential.

EDIT: Hopefully lots of other people will report this as well.

I'm also facing this. How can we report this to apple? or we should wait for final version on 16th September?
Please help.

If you are using iOS 9.0 PB, you should see the feedback assistant app on your phone.

I am running iOS 9.1 beta (13B5110e) and don't have feedback assistant.
So I see it's still an issue in 9.0 GM, I take it it's still an issue in 9.1 beta?

Yeah, I can't see Feedback Assistant App. I have reported bug on Apple bug reporter. Hope to be resolved in version launching tomorrow.

I think many people will be facing the same problem.

Then what workaround we should do? or do we have to wait for apple next versions?
I posted a workaround a few posts above.

as for a proper fix it will be 9.0.1 or 9.1 at the earliest. they should be out November at the latest. but there's no guarantee apple see this as a bug let alone an urgent one :(

Yeah, we can do that on our iPad. But I think we can't ask our users to install documents 5 app to their device for our app.

didn't realise you were asking for support for your app. bye.

I'm currently running iOS 9.1 public beta, and downloading PDF files is possible in Safari, however office documents still won't show the "open in..." bar to download them.

Pff.. I was having this issue this morning at Uni and it was horrible :( I couldn't download any document!
I'll use Documents 5 app instead while Apple decides to solve this or not soon
