I am running 10.6.4 on my late 09 iMac 21.5"

The web browser i am using is Safari 5.

I have been having a few problems with Safari 5.
Safari 5 crashes at least one time everytime i boot up my Mac and when my Mac is restarted is leaves recovered files in trash.

That is not the the only problem i have another question,
When i use something to do with shockwave on the web for example a Miniclup game, it gives me an error, and says it can no longer continue and the shockwave object just goes black.
(Im not sure whether this is Safari 5 or some Shockwave update i need)

please help.

The Shockwave problem is easy to fix - go grab Shockwave 11 from Adobe's site. As for the crashes, have you tried the common troubleshooting steps?

  • Move Safari's preference file to your desktop
  • Delete Safari's cache folders
  • Reset Safari
  • Move all your plug-ins out of the Internet Plugins folder then restart Safari
  • Disable any 3rd-party "hacks" for Safari you have active
  • Perform a "Safe Boot" by holding down Shift

Just switch to Chrome. IMO Safari in OSX has gotten just as sloppy as Internet Explorer on Windows.

I've had nothing but issues when trying to use the last 2 versions of Safari.
