Safari problems

Sometimes when typing in an URL in Safari and pressing enter, the address disappears, and nothing else happens. This happens randomly in about 1 out of 4 cases. I have tried installing the 10.9.4 combo update, creating a new user and resetting Safari. I even tried downloading the beta of Safari 7.1, but it did not solve the problem. Anyone?

Have you tried another browser app (ie chrome?) This seems like a problem that is specifically happening in Safari. Doubt it would happen in another browser, but it's worth testing out to see. I stopped using Safari long ago because it seemed like silly little problem like this, one after the other. Not really a fix, I know, but I hope it helps.
