Is there a way I can make it so that when a link would normally open in a new window, that it opens in a new tab by default instead? Such as when looking through Google News, every link opens in a new window. I want it to be in a new tab always. I find myself constantly using the merge all windows menu. I know you can hold down the command key to open the links in a new tab, but I want to eliminate this step if possible.

Go into Safari. Then into the settings.

1. Go over to the "TABS" section

2. Change "Open pages in tabs instead of windows" to Always

Done 🙄

In Safari 5.0 or later, Safari menu, Preferences, Tabs tab, Open pages in tabs instead of windows, switch to Always.
