Safari Question

I was wondering if you could help me,

Lets say if I went to a webpage, which folder does the cached data get stored, i.e. history. Thanks

Should be here: ~/Library/Caches/Safari

They seem to be .cache files, on windows you can get pictures back etc, are these cache files compressed archives?

Try opening a suspected image file with GraphicConverter. Just tried it on a few and it works fine. It will ask if it should try to decode it [as JPEG]. Opened image fine. Photoshop also opened it.
