Please, please PLEASE can someone please tell me how to disable the Safari sidebar automatically popping up when in full screen. The amount of times I have searched for a solution and find nothing but false info.

It's been annoying me for years!

So if you move your mouse to the left of the screen the sidebar doesn't pop out automatically?

Happens to me too, apparently it’s a standard feature that can only be disable with some kind of terminal command? Or by moving the dock to the left of the screen.

I had seen the thing about the dock on the left, which is weird for me lol. Tried several terminal commands which never seems to work. Surely it can be disabled

Forgive me for reviving a dead thread.

Has there been any headway made on this? I've been seeking this answer as well, and one of the terminal commands I found took away the dock with all my apps on it... not the sidebar that autohides in fullscreen Safari. I fixed it, but that was not a fun moment.

I'm not keen on moving the dock, so another fix would be nice. Until then, looks like I'll be using another browser for my fullscreen uses 🙄
