Or you could have just done the 4.2.2.1 thing like everybody else and it should have the same exact effect, only way easier to remember, and likely more reliable since it is the DNS servers for a Tier 1 ISP.

What is a DNS server anyway? How did that fix my Safari?
 
i had been finding safari was running slowly, i inserted the DNS as illustrated in the previous page and to be honest it made no difference at all.

i then decided to remove the DNS characters, and noticed that my router is set to XXX.XXX.XXX.1 and my IP address was set to XXX.XXX.XXX.4 changing it back to XXX.XXX.XXX.2 improved safari no end

i had set it up to XXX.XXX.XXX.2 originally, is it possible that the update could have chaged these details?
