Safari Supports NFC, USB, and Lightning FIDO2-Compliant Security Keys in iOS 13.3

If I buy one of these will most sites also allow me to leave software based two factor on as a backup? Or is it one or the other?

If it is the latter I am concerned that I would have to buy a handful of these to make sure I never lose it and get perma locked out of my account.

I still haven't been able to get Yubikeys to work after the recent upgrades. I am on an older version of osx (10.13.6) but the last Safari update to this os was supposed to have it included if i remember correctly. I tried on my phone as well that does have the newest iOS and just haven't had luck. With an extension plugin i found on github i was able to get facebook to recognize my usb yubikey and work. but nothing else. even if i change user agent under the dev menu, nothing. At least with twitter and google accounts.
