safari text encoding strangeness

does anyone know why on some websites text appears as gibberish and if it is something that is a local issue or a host issue?

Yeahhh..okay, a screenshot would be more helpful. Type shift+apple+4, and then hit the spacebar and single click on the browser window. Then upload as an attachment here.

I think I read something on this somewhere here on MacRumor (or maybe elsewhere) that is has something to do with disabling Helvetica fractions font. Do some searches to see if you can find it for more details.
