I like Safari for Mac, I also like Firefox, but I'd rather run the same browser on my desktop as my iPod touch and be able to sync bookmarks. There are a few minor tweaks that I do like more about firefox.

First, there is no way that I know of in Safari to have all new links open in a new tab rather than in a new window. I'd rather have this as the default rather than middle or command click. The other minor annoyance I have with Safari is that new bookmarks added to the toolbar are added on the left side, shifting all the other bookmarks over, which I don't like because I grow accustomed to the bookmarks in a specific place.

Are there any plugins or tweaks I could use to change these settings?

Don't know about those exact settings, but this site might be up your alley.

I didn't find any plugins on pimpimysafari that fits the bill. I did find this however, http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2008032109273043. Although this isn't quite right, because I'd rather the new tabs be created in the background, and they're created in the foreground, and using this command line preference seems to overwrite the GUI preferences for new tabs are created in the background.
