So the recent Safari update deleted the old version of the "top sites" and along with it all the websites I pinned to the top sites. These websites don't seem to have been relocated anywhere, and I am desperately trying to find a way to resave them. Anyone have an idea of how I can do this?

I've also just noticed this. I've got a feeling that that feature has gone. It is very disappointing.

I've worked out a way to crash the new favourites. If you attempt to drag one of the tiles and drop them outside the current safari window, the browser will crash. In the crash report I also mentioned that rearranging and pinning appears broken. We could always flood their bug reporting system with this.

I dont understand the new Safari Main Page....why have Favorites when they are in the Favorites bar OR found under Bookmarks > Favorites.

Pinned was nice because I could quickly access them, and if I didn't go to teh site in a while it was still there. it would have been easy to add a "Pinned" section to the main page OR add these to frequently visited with Pinned at the top of that list.

I am guessing they have AI algorithms and personal Favorites and that is all that can be done on the backend easily. rrrgh

Showing the favourites in the middle of the window as a grid of biggish squares is just making things consistent with Safari on iOS. They're preparing for touch-screen Macs, of course ;)

Good point..consistency. I get it. I wish there was a PINNED option but I suppose PINS should just be Favorites perhaps
and I need to adjust my thinking within Safari

Would be good if the favourites showed a preview - as does the recently visited - instead of the favicon.

I also don't like the tab icons/favicons. I used to be able to read the start of a webpage tab and know what it was. but now I have to hover to get a thumbnail. oh well, gotta learn something new.

Turn off the tab icons if you don't want them.
uncheck "Show website icons in tabs" in Safari>Preferences>Tabs

maybe I found a solution, not amazing, but it works....

First of all, create a new folder in bookmarks. In that folder, add all the websites you had PINNED previously. Let's call the folder "PINNED"

Now go to SAFARI - PREFERENCES - GENERAL....

and where it says: FAVOURITE SHOWS: change to "PINNED"

back to homepage, now select at the bottom the option to see favourites only..... 🤷🏻‍♂️ (better than the stupid update, I think....)
