Something that I have noticed for a long time about Safari on both Monterey and Ventura is that sometimes the URL of a website is not shown at the top. Most of the time for most websites it is, but sometimes it isn't. When it isn't there it seems there is no way to copy it to paste it elsewhere (email, etc.). None of my other browsers have this problem. It only happens with Safari. Anyone know why? Anyone know how to fix this?

This problem happened to me again today. Here is the URL window in Safari 16.4 for the Adobe forum with the URL missing:

Note that the reload page icon is missing at the end also.

And here is the URL window in Safari 16.4 for this forum looking as it should:

Anyone know why this sometimes happens? It has been sporadically happening for me on multiple Macs, both Monterey and Ventura, for over a year.

Have you tied to disable/re-enable Show full website address?

I have never seen the behavior you are describing, but I noticed something else. In previous versions of Safari, if I cut the address from the Smart Search field (command+x) to paste it somewhere else, Safari would not display it again, unless I reloaded the page. But in Safari 16.4.1 (Monterey), if I cut the address, it is shown again once I exit the filed.

Thank you for your reply.

I am on Ventura 13.3.1 and it has Safari 16.4, not 16.4.1. Strange.

I did the disable/enable thing so I shall see if that fixes the problem. It only happens occasionally and I cannot predict when it will happen. As I said, it has happened on more than one Apple Silicon Mac with various versions of Safari on Monterey and Ventura.

I have been having the same issues lately. It seems to happen with Safari browser tabs that I haven't gone to or refreshed in a little bit. I have been able to get it to reload if I pull the tab out by itself into a new browser window on it's own.

It still happens to me also from time to time. I have not noticed if it is just old tabs, but it might be. It never happens with Opera and Chrome though. And on my Windows PC it never happens with Firefox and Edge. It only happens with Safari on my Mac.
