I am just curious how many people, if any, prefer Chrome over Safari on iOS (or even OS X for that matter). My understanding is that Chrome on iOS is based on Safari due to Apple restrictions so I am wondering why it would be preferrable. I do really like the look of the latest Chrome on iOS though.

Well i would love chrome if i could use it. But when i downloaded it, adds such as mac repair would pop up, and then i installed Adblock and installed more ads. So i use safari with adblock, ghostly, and resize me on safari extensions.

I strongly prefer Safari on iOS devices. Chrome on iOS is just an overlay using the same engine, which doesn't integate with the system and is slower and buggier than native Safari.

Use both on iOS and OS X.

Logged into Google services on Chrome. Safari for regular use (I use Reading List and bookmark syncing between devices and keychain and autofill for credit cards). On OS X, also use Chrome for streaming radio (start playing station, then cmd-h to hide window on dock) as well as Authy extension, Hangouts, Google Voice.

This is one of those Coke vs Pepsi type questions: no right answer and all a matter of biases and preferences.

Chrome is such a resource hog on my Mac and so bloody slow to load, where as Safari loads pretty instantly. I also don't have a lot of trust for Google. I keep Chrome on my Mac for emergencies but rarely use it.

On iOS I have chrome just in case. I used to use it when I wanted to view desktop sites on my iPad, but with iOS 8 safari does that now.

If Apple didn't force everyone to use Safari on iOS devices (yes, even Chrome is Safari underneath), I would never use it. Google's Chrome is more feature rich, , has a ton more extensions, can easily be utilized on multiple platforms and the new remote desktop feature is perfect.

There is nothing wrong with Safari and I don't hate it, but if I didn't have to use it, I wouldn't.

IF Safari wasn't buggy, I would prefer it. Chrome is a resource hog but it's OK. I prefer Opera to Chrome.

I use Safari on OS X and iOS. On my Windows machines, I use Firefox.
No bugs that I encountered that limits/hinder my browsing uses.
For all others, like office, cloud drive, I use Microsoft services.

I'm not interested in using Chrome whatsoever.

The Android Lollipop material design style update that Chrome just got is screaming for me to come to back to it. I'm tempted but using Safari on my Mac has made me more and more tied into the Apple ecosystem.

I might switch back to Chrome and give it a second chance. Especially since I have iTouchSecure for iOS 8 on my jailbroken iPhone 6 Plus. I assume it works and it'll be useful since I don't think 1Password's extension is Chrome compatible.

I'd say Safari hands down on iOS simply since it has the Nitro Engine and ability to extensions such as the Bing Translate extension. On OS X, its a turn up since Chrome usually have better extension than Safari. Usually use Safari since its more efficient both RAM and battery wise.

I'm surprised and disappointed of the fact that google hasnt adopted the nitro engine just yet, chrome still feels slower than safari even though I would love to use chrome I have to stick with safari until google fixes chrome

I use Chrome because it reloads it's open tabs less than Safari on my iP6+

I also use Chrome on the iPad Air and MBA.

Now Chrome has just been updated it is much smoother for me.

It's about time Apple allowed a user to choose a default browser.

I use the tweak BrowserChanger so everything now opens in GoogleChrome.

The only feature I miss is the ability to swipe between pages that's on Safari so I hope either Chrome add that or a Tweak is released to introduce it.

I use Chrome on desktops but it consumes too much memory. So I use Safari on iphone.

    This is interesting.

How much does Chrome "consume" too much memory in relation to Safari ?

I prefer Safari across OS X and iOS.

Why? It has some common sense features. I love Reading List and have used it every day since Safari 5.1. It has a built in reader mode. I prefer the UI and text rendering in Safari (although Chrome is now close) and it has decent speed. It's not quite as fast as Chrome for some things, but the integration with the OS is worth it to me.

I think sleipnir is the true underdog here. Sure it's buggy at times and has a really weird English translation but it's different and looks nice. The gestures are great too http://www.fenrir-inc.com/uk/sleipnir/
