So I just spent the passed 20+ minutes finding umatrix 1.0.0 and installing it on my iBook and getting this laptop setup in a similair fashion to my Powerbook. However whet I came to install Safari Webkit, I noticed it was only for 10.5. Is there a 10.4.11 version?

Sorry guys, obviously can't see the tree's for the forest. I saw the link, read the first line but didn't notice the fact it said "tenfourkit". Think I just saw it an assumed it was a link to tenfourfox.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i always thought Safari and tenfourfox were quite different browsers. TTF is based on mozilla, which i didn't think Safari was.

Anyways, many thanks for the link. My apologies for being thick and not reading it properly :p

Safari is Webkit based - hence these "Kit" flavoured updates.
Generally the Webkit browsers are much faster (initially) than TFF but more buggy/less compatible - it's a trade off but sucessful browsing on a PPC means a handful of different browsers/solutions for different tasks - there's still a lot you can do.

You're right. Someone in the mix decided to badge WebKit for Tiger as "TenFourKit", despite having no affiliation with TenFourFox / Mozilla / Gecko in any way. Safari is WebKit from the ground up.

Interesting read on the WebKit wikipedia page, apparently, the WebKit code base originated from the KDE HTML (KHTML) layout and KJS Javascript engines. Apple then ported these technologies to OS X under a fork named "WebCore", which is the basis for Safari, released in 2003 when Jag-wahh was the top cat.

Here's my old duckduckgo start page mod of tenfourkit.
Link only good for 30 days.
I had to install Safari 4.1.3 for WebKit to work, but all is good now! Just out of curiosity, what is the benefit to using WebKit over Safari? Is there even a benefit?

I think I am going to submit the Safari 4.1.3 file I found to the Garden. They are missing a lot of versions of Safari
