Safari says "This webpage was reloaded because it was using significant energy."
Safari 16.6.1 (macOS Big Sur), Safari (iPadOS 15.8.4)

Keep seeing this alert in Safari, both Mac and iPad. The particular website is rather low-budget, so I suppose the coding might not be so tight. Is it causing any other problem I should look out for, or is there anything I can to do ameliorate the situation?

same here, different year
I can't get several websites to launch on Monterey, Safari both 2023 edition.
tutamail for example which works on Vivaldi.

could be the coding or the info before the header or body of a webpage.
and always check the "https:/" suffix as well.

Old thread about this here:

A couple other old threads on a similar message ("significant memory"):

In Safari on the Mac (but not iPad) you can go to the Safari > Preferences > Advanced tab and check the box to show the developer menu. You can then go to the Develop menu and choose Show Web Inspector. That will show exactly what is going on with the site, but it might be hard to understand if you don't have any experience.

Basically, I think the message means just what it says. There's something about that site that is using a lot of resources which makes your device work harder and use more energy. There could be a lot of reasons for this, it doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong with the site.

Thanks for your reply. Very helpful. 👍 I'll look into the Web Inspector, let the site owner know what I find. This forum is great, always get good responses here.
