Sometime in the last few days, my Safari website prefs have reverted to defaults, and my attempts to change them back won't stick. For example: The default for Preferences/Websites/Location is "Ask". I can change it to "Deny", but when I switch to another tab and back again, I find it's reverted to "Ask". Likewise for changes to other website defaults like camera and microphone access, except (oddly enough) page zoom.

This started shortly after the update to Safari 14.0, but that may be a coincidence. In the last few days, I've also migrated my iMac to a new boot disk, which seemed to go smoothly, but who knows? My first guess would be a permission problem on some prefs file that makes it unwritable, but I've been unable to locate the file that holds these particular prefs. It doesn't seem to be here:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Preferences

Or here:

$( getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR )/com.apple.Safari

Does anyone have another theory? Suggestions gratefully accepted!
