I have an 14” M1 Pro MacBook Pro, connected to a 4K display via HDMI. I use the 4K display as the primary display when it’s connected. The 4K display is set to “Larger Text (1920x1080)” and the Mac’s display is at the default setting.
I’m seeing some intermittent odd behaviour with Safari and its windows.
For example, if I open a new tab (either by clicking the +, ⌘-N, or whatever) and go to YouTube, everything is fine.
If I now grab that tab and drag it to the Mac’s display, I will occasionally see the window “snap” to a smaller size. If I double-click the title bar (configured to “fill”) the window resizes but not to display size, but to a rectangle offset from the top of the display.
This unwelcome behaviour now affects any and all tabs in that window, and sometimes can affect the Safari window on the main display, if you drag the tab into it (or choose “merge all windows” from the Window menu).
Once a Safari window is in this state, it remains so until closed.
The behaviour seems constrained to YouTube. I’ve never seen it on any other site. I’ve also not seen it in my other browser (Edge).
Software: Safari 18.2, macOS 15.2, AdGuard for Safari 1.11.20.
