Hey folks!

So...I've been having serious system freeze issues and I'm using Cocktail to do some system maintenance to see if that helps.
Cocktail did a search for corrupted preference files and discovered about 7 of them, some of which are actually repeats. My question is...is it safe to delete them? I'm asking because some of them see to be potentially important for the integrity of the system (I don't know that this is the case, however, as I don't really know what preference files are (!))
One of the files is:
/Users/[name of my home folder]/Library/
and one that's repeated twice is:
/Users/[name of my home folder]/Library/Preferences

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Preference files are safe to delete.

The only negative to deleting them is that custom settings are reset to defaults. For example, custom Finder settings will be reset to the Finder defaults, but this will not impact the integrity in any way.

Thanks!

Good deal...thanks for the assurance. I didn't include the .plist info because it didn't seem to display it in Cocktail...I went ahead and deleted the files and completed the maintenance...hopefully that'll fix the freezes!
Thanks again!
