Safe to update to 11.0.1 on m1 mac

So, I receive my m1 macbook pro tommorow. I'm wondering, I've heard horror stories of people who have made their m1 macs unusuable by reinstalling or updating mac os, which then it gives them an error and won't install. So, question is, is it safe for me tomorrow to update from 11.0 to 11.0.1? Will it make my machine have to be restored through apple configurator, or would it install just fine? Also, should I migrate my data first or update to 11.0.1 first?

I updated right away based on other threads I read and have not had a problem since.

I thought most of the horror stories were with re-install rather than straight updates within MacOS.

Updated mine after I migrated everything from my mid-2012 MBP. No problems.
